DARIIUS ☰𖦹!!
Just who runs this site exactly? Who is behind the insane diary posts...? Who's the creator of
all the
art pieces in the gallery...? Who made the MARIONETWORK...? And why did they name it that when
there's barely any Mario here and Sans is on the fucking header.
I'm so glad you asked, Hi, I'm DARIIUS. Getting this out of the way, yes, it's DARIIUS! All
capitals. Yes, you can spell it all lowercase, yes,
you can spell it normalcase, yes I prefer my name spelled all capitalized. Why? It looks nice
and the two I's are roman numerals to symbolize me being in my 20's.
Yes, I'm adding another I when I hit my 30's and beyond. Yes, it's fun. Yes, everything is a
game to me.
Okay! With that out of the way, hi!
Again! I'm DARIIUS and I made and run the
MARIONETWORK! You may notice on the Home page that I
refer to my site MARIONETWORK 3.0! This is the third major iteration of my site! The first being
when I first started coding and learning how to do things,
I was using a template at the time that I had modified over time. Later, as I grew more advanced
in my coding knowledge,
I scrapped 1.0 to make MARIONETWORK 2.0; a site made with no template, fully hand-coded by me! I
was super proud of that version for some time and I loved it dearly.
But again, as my coding skills and knowledge
advanced, I couldn't look at my site's backend without cringing. Hard. It was a mess of divs,
barely functional mobile support, etc. Just
messy coding that made it a pain to work on after breaks. So, after putting my site into
retirement for a good chunk of 2025, I finally found the time and motivation to put my site into
3.0; the version you're viewing right now! A testament to my coding skills over the years since
I first made my site.
What took so long?
For a good chunk of 3.0 being up, I actually lacked having an about page. 1.0 had one, then 2.0 never had one and for a long period of time, 3.0 also did not have one. I originally had an about in 1.0 because, well... I was following the usual website set-up's everyone else on neocities had! And everyone, EVERYONE, had an about page! So, at the time,
I scrapped together a very cute about page about
everything me and everything I liked. And frankly hated it. I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE writing about me's. Even on Discord and Toyhou.se, my profile is bare of info because I just don't know what to put. I was thinking, "what do people want to read? What do I put that everyone puts down? Are there templates I can follow for this?". And it fucking suuuuucked. LOL. I struggled to put anything meaningful besides random fun facts about myself that just seemed more like decor than actual info I cared about people reading and knowing. So, when I made 2.0? I scrapped the about page. Didn't bother writing one.
And for all of 2.0, it didn't bother or mind me
that I didn't have one. Frankly, I just didn't feel like I needed one,
because if I, the webmaster, don't care to write it, then why should anyone care to read it?But DARIIUS... you wrote one now! What changed...? Honestly? I just felt like it! Suddenly, I didn't mind the idea of having one, and I actually wanted to write one. I wanted people to know a little about my site, why it exists, why it's called 3.0, why my name is the way it is, the things I like. I just wanted to make one. So, I made one.
So, who is DARIIUS?
Hi! Finally, an introduction to DARIIUS.
Of all things I do in life, the one thing I love the most to do is to make bullshit. I love to make new things, make a new spin on projects, dip my hands into new mediums and engines and tools just to make bullshit. I love making bullshit. I love making shit that has no value, only created for the love of the game. My website? The biggest testament to that.
A project I cooked up when I decided I wanted to dip into coding and have been steadily crafting and rehoning my coding skills since. I'm not an expert by no means, I genuinely love drafting new pages and troubleshooting my problems until I've finally made it.
Every page
of my site is a mini project and every one I complete feels fucking awesome. I feel so accomplished when I work on my site, even
just looking at it makes me happy. It's an extension of myself and I couldn't ask for more.Even beyond coding, I love to make bullshit. If you're from my Toyhou.se, maybe you've thought or wandered why this guy just pumps out random art raffles, and bulletin games, and rants about their monthly art prints just for them and only has a couple sites as social media links rather than a Twitter or Instagram. Or maybe you're not from there or never thought that, idgaf. The point!!!! Is that
I love to make bullshit. I fucking love drawing. I fucking love finding new mediums to make cute and fun shit. My little spinny standee I threw together
in the spur of the moment in Blender? I love making shit like that !!!! I love trying to make stuff and I genuinely love drawing other people's ocs and
trying my hand at stuff I've never drawn before. It's the biggest and strongest reason I have not deleted my Toyhou.se despite the issues I have with it.
It's the sole place online where I can just draw for others without stress and make art I like and really push myself to try my hand at something.Originally, there were some art sites and servers I was in that filled this role for me but I eventually moved away from, settling myself on just my Toyhou.se and my site. I use Discord to join zines, but aside from that, the main place I make and post my art is just my TH and my site.
I really do love trying new creative avenues!!
Currently, I've dabbled in or gained some skill in: static site coding, Blender, digital drawing,
zines, full art prints, woodworking and gamedev in engines Ren'Py, RPGMaker and Unity! I am definitely not an expert in these, but they're some
of my favorite hobbies that I jump around from when I feel like it! And this isn't my limit either! I still want to dabble in cooking, making music,
and animation too! I've done some things in these mediums before, but nothing so far, that I'm proud of as my skills are very much still beginner. Still!
I want to keep creating forever, I want to keep making bullshit for myself and others. I love to do it, and it's my ultimate favorite hobby that keeps
me motivated to keep going. Hopefully this gives a fun insight into DARIIUS for you!
Why is it called MARIONETWORK?
Kicks my legs... I like Mario... And also, originally my site had wayyyy more Mario around. But of course, I'm just bad at keeping to one theme, so despite the name staying the same, I've made 3.0 represent me and all my ever changing interests and hobbies and myself as a webmaster.
Where else can I find youuu
Thanks for asking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've got: a Toyhou.se > an OC site > a KO-FI > and a tumblr I may or may not delete
