episode 24... introduces tomo's silly split powers

What's Up?

What's better than one Todd? FOUR TODDS :D!! Live with Yourself is about a 20-something guy named Todd. He works for Professor Fix-It, a part-time computer repair guy, part-time paranormal investigating geek. After getting assigned to deal with a bug-infested computer in a secret lab on New Year's, Todd is caught in an explosion after the lab initiates its Timespace Reactor. While physically fine, he realize he has been split into three additional versions of his present self: Baby Todd, Tomorrow Todd, and Future Todd. The webcomic follows Todd and himselves learning to live with each other, learning about each other's powers, and simply appreciating the past, present and future whether near or far :)

The OG

The "original" Todd, or as others may say, "present Todd". Present Todd is the protagonist of Live With Yourself. He's a very lazy, passionate goofball of a character. He lacks the willpower to properly care for himself most days (and in turn, pissing off Tomo LOL), but in return, he is constantly himself into a multitude of new opportunities and people when they fall into his life. While in hindsight, this usually ends in heartbreak or disappointment for him, he never stops letting his heart guide him in life.
There are times where he may find his other selves annoying or pushy, but little by little he starts to understand, he is just caring for himself. While his lazy personality still persists, he pushes himself in new ways to better care him and his selves for the nicer life they (or I should say he) deserves. ♡

Too soon...

I like tomo a lot so he gets his own tab on this page IDGAF IDGAF

I'm Old!

Oldie is the oldest of the Todds as he's the far future Todd! While he may seem like a grumpy old grandpa, do not be fooled! This is still Todd we are talking about here! Just because he's older doesn't mean he's lost his whimsy, if anything, quite the opposite! Oldie is probably in my opinion the most cheerful and silliest of the four! It may seem like the OG Todd or even Tomo are, but remember! They're living what Oldie's already lived through! Oldie is usually happy to see himself having fun and experiencing all that he's already experienced, including the good and the bad. He loves to instigate situations, and see chaos play out because he already knows how it will play out! He's always encouraging OG Todd to follow his heart, even if he knows it may not turn out great for Todd because he knows he needs to experience it.
Though with being the farthest future Todd, it means he already knows how most of Todd and Tomo's major moments play out, leaving him sometimes bored at home. To take care of his boredom, Oldie has a lot of odd hobbies he busies himself with when Todd and Tomo are doing their thing. He likes to collect teeth and plant square bushes, and he likes to torment one specific delivery driver who is terrified of the Todds. He may seem odd, but he's already lived and knows Todd's life! He still loves to follow his heart and stay as passionate as he was when he was younger and he channels that into his various hobbies and encouraging his younger selves. As well, he ALWAYS refrains from spoiling his life for the two at all possible points in time! He wants Todd and Tomo to experience the good and the bad with a fresh heart, even if that puts them in a vulnerable state of mind afterwards.
And to mention, his relationship with Tomo is adorable as the two are the only future versions of Todd. Being so, Tomo frequently comes to Oldie for guidance, warnings and advice to better Todd's life (and looking between the lines, also to keep Oldie safe and allow him to live a long, healthy life). Oldie usually gives Tomo a pat on the back to relax about whatever new things he's on about, whether it be about the cane Oldie uses or anything he can do to avoid making Todd's life harder. While Oldie can appreciate Tomo's heart being in the right place, he always talks around Tomo's queries to keep from spoiling life for him. Experiencing life for what it is in the present is all that matters to Oldie ♡

The OG OG

Past Todd, or as they refer to him, Babs, is the baby that one of the Todds is always carrying around. Babs is an incredibly quiet baby who rarely makes a noise and according to Oldie, never blinks. While a very silent character, Babs has a lot of influence over the over Todds with him being the Past Todd. Anything and everything that happens to Babs affects the other Todds immediately without them realizing it as there is no further past Todd to note the changes. This is most notable when the Todds try and paint Babs nursery room and become affected by the color choices! Or anytime Babs is left on the couch to watch a favorite show of his in the morning, effectively causing the other Todds to live in a daydream-like pastel world for the time Babs is watching that channel.
Just because Babs is quiet does not mean Babs can't help the other Todds or voice opinions. Babs holds the power of anything he observes rapidly ages as it is brought to the past. Using this power, Babs frequently uses it to grab objects and play with toys despite being swaddled up. Babs likes anything Todd typically finds nostalgic such as the Tickle Me Tough Guy of which Babs immediately grabbed from Todd to play with by himself. While still a baby, Babs is a very adorable being that the other Todds always bring along with them ♡

Isn't this just Todd but a day older?

Yeah, but he wears a blue sweater and has stubble so I like him more :L
Kidding! One of the things I love most about Live With Yourself is the writing for Tomo! Despite being just Todd a day later, his personality is stark to his present himself and he looks generally grumpier and annoyed in contrast to Todd's bimbo attitude. And it makes sense! Tomo is constantly watching Todd push away opportunities, skip over taking care of himself and procrastinating on everything possible. And on top of all of that, Tomo has tolive through all of those after effects! This comes up frequently in Live With Yourself as Tomo deals with whatever consequences Todd puts himself through. Whether it be bar fights, getting amnesia, smelling bad since Todd didn't shower, feeling exhausted, or anything, Tomo has to get a slice of the pain too! This leaves him constantly annoyed and exhausted as he watches himself in real-time choose bad choices.
Speaking of choices, whenever Todd has to make a choice that will drastically change them, it causes Tomo to split into however many varying choices Todd has to pick from. Oldie is unaffected as he is too far in the future for the choice to impact him, but Tomo is too close to Todd escape the impact, so his very being splits up to deal with the weight of the choices. Both Tomo and Todd are unsure which Tomo is the actually good choice, so it just leaves Tomo in this state until Todd has made his choice. In addition, if Todd chooses to NOT make a choice (which is making a choice in and of itself), a Tomo of indecision will take form, a gloopy mess of regret and fear.
While Tomo cannot escape or change Todd's choices, he can do his best to help Todd out with what he remembers doing yesterday (in turn, what Todd is doing right then). When Todd gets into bar fights or has his heart broken after being scammed, Tomo comes to the rescue to help both of him selves skirt around the pain as much as possible. The events still happen, but Tomo can soften the impact.
Which brings up another facet of Tomo I find endearing: just how much he cares for the other Todds! With him being the closest timeline-wise to Todd, he typically always hangs around Todd to keep him out of danger, and soften the pain he may feel. Tomo's already lived Todd's day and seeing it play out again, he always does his best to push Todd to make different choices then he did and to take better care of himself. In other cases, when Tomo learned of MechaNeko's secret, he made the choice to not let MechaNeko tell Todd knowing full well he would forget it himself if he did not tell Todd. Tomo's heart is just as passionate as Todd, but instead of focusing it on the present, he keeps his focus on caring for the other Todds as best he can.
He frequently goes to Oldie for advice on what he as Tomo can do to make a better life for Todd and in turn, make a nicer life for Oldie. After noticing for a while Oldie's reliance on his cane, Tomo asks how Oldie came to rely on it to see if he can do anything to change it so Oldie won't need it anymore and feel less pain. Oldie of course, just skirts around the question which motivates Tomo to completely Todd-proof the house and Todd himself. After a couple shenanigans, Todd ends up hurting his leg because of Tomo's worrying which leads to Oldie remembering exactly why he ends up needing the cane later in life. It's a really adorable reminder of Tomo's heart being in the right place, even if his intentions don't match up with the unfortunate consequences.
To conclude, Tomo just cares a lot for the other Todds and watching himself constantly push away self-care just motivates Tomo to try harder than he did yesterday. ♡
